Canal breach inundates villages

KHAIRPUR, July 13: A 50 feet breach in Sathiyo wah at RD-10 in Khairpur taluka on Thursday morning flooded the Saleem Shaikh village and damaged parts of the Doghar village and a SCARP tube-well.

The affected villagers shifted their households and themselves to the basic health unit, Phaat.

Breach water also submerged date palm orchards spreading over 100 acres of land.

The affected villagers and growers complained that they had been informing the irrigation officials about weak embankments of the canal but officials did not pay attention to their complaints.

They claimed that the breach was the result of negligence of irrigation officials.

KILLED: One person died and two others injured in two separate incidents late on Wednesday evening.

One Qadir Bux Larik was on his way to the Pyaro Larik village from Ranipur on a motorcycle when he reached near Dargah Mohammad Shah four armed men stopped him and snatched his motorcycle, gold ornaments and other valuables.
