Three girls killed in quadcopter attack in KP

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Three girls were killed and four other family members wounded in the early hours of Sunday when a quadcopter drone dropped munitions on a home in the Nargasi area of Birmal tehsil in Lower South Waziristan, local sources said.

The strike hit the residence of Mohammad Gul Wazir. The girls aged between six and 15 years old were killed. A woman and three young boys were injured. They were rescued by neighbours who also rushed them to the district headquarters hospital in Wana.

Authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the nature of the incident, its cause or who is responsible for the strike. The attack has shocked residents, who are calling for a transparent investigation to establish the facts.

According to local sources, similar quadcopter drone strikes have previously been reported in several areas of the region’s Birmal district, including Azam Warsak, Guldona Ghundai, Karmazi and Kalotai.

Residents claim these repeated incidents have caused numerous casualties over time, contributing to growing fear and uncertainty.

The attack comes amid a broader deterioration of security in Lower South Waziristan over the past 18 months.

Local communities report a surge in violence, pointing to an increase in bombings, targeted killings, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and attacks on police and security personnel.
