HYDERABAD, July 13: Leaders of the Hyderabad and Tando Mohammad Khan People’s Party on Thursday vowed to continue their demonstrations and sit-ins till the release of district (rural) taluka party leader Abdul Hakeem Khoso.

Speaking at a press conference, district PPP acting president Amanullah Siyal, party’s Sindh council member Fayyaz Shah, Tando Mohammad Khan president Haji Amin Lakho and Aftab Ahmed Khanzada alleged that police arrested Khoso on July 10, 2006, at the insistence of UC Nazim Mohammad Abbas Unnar, who was closely associated with the district nazim.

They said Khoso had been missing for three days. He had gone to the Husri police station for lodging a report of a scuffle between him and some people.

They claimed that Khoso was being tortured by police and his life was in grave danger and pledged to continue their protest till his release.

They warned the district administration and provincial government to stop what they termed vindictive actions against PPP workers and leaders.

The protesting leaders told newsmen that a message had been sent to the sessions judge Hyderabad and its copies to the chief justice of the Sindh High Court, but the leaders had not been released.
