KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to convert the pilot employment initiative ‘iWork4Sindh’ into a regular government programme to ensure easy, transparent and effective access to employment opportunities for youth across the province.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the Information Department chaired by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who also holds the information portfolio.

The ‘iWork4Sindh’ portal is an initiative aimed at connecting job seekers with employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors. The platform offers access to vacancies in government departments, including teaching and administrative positions, as well as jobs in private organisations.

According to an official statement, the meeting agreed on a comprehensive strategy to operate ‘iWork4Sindh’ in a more effective, integrated and modern manner. Various aspects of improving employment opportunities for the province’s youth across the public and private sectors via the platform were discussed in detail.

Sharjeel says over 4.8m people visited portal, 113,000 job seekers registered

On the occasion, the senior minister said that ‘iWork4Sindh’ has become an effective digital platform connecting the youth of Sindh with employers in a short period of time.

He said that more than 4.8 million people had visited the platform so far, while over 113,000 candidates had registered. Similarly, 670 companies had registered on the platform, with 11,100 active job openings available. A total of 20,800 jobs had been posted, while more than 419,000 job applications had been submitted to date.

He added that the portal also offers an automatic curriculum vitae (CV) creation facility, while the ‘Learn and Earn’ feature has been introduced to enhance young people’s skills. He added that a live career counselling service by industry experts would soon be introduced, enabling youth to receive direct career guidance, professional advice and practical assistance related to employment.

He said that the Sindh government intends to transform ‘iWork4Sindh’ from a pilot project into a permanent government programme to ensure easy, transparent and effective access to employment opportunities for youth across the province.

He directed all relevant departments to work in close coordination to ensure the programme’s success so that the maximum number of young people could benefit from this initiative.

The meeting also held a detailed discussion on the effective publicity of the Sindh government’s development projects, a modern digital communication strategy, issues relating to newspapers and media houses, and government measures to promote freedom of expression.

The senior minister said that the information department serves as the primary link between the government and the public. Therefore, ensuring the timely, transparent and effective dissemination of information in line with modern requirements was the need of the hour.

He directed that all legitimate matters related to newspapers and media houses be addressed promptly, in accordance with the law and the relevant rules and regulations, and that government measures be made more effective to promote positive, professional, and mutually respectful relations with journalistic institutions.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Information Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon, Director General Public Relations Moiz Pirzada, Director Advertisement Muhammad Yousuf Kaboro, Director Films Hizbullah Memon, Deputy Director Sarang Latif Chandio and other relevant officials.
