PESHAWAR, July 12: NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq, has expressed grave concern over unscheduled loadsheddings in the province and has asked Wapda to take concrete steps for checking it effectively.

In a meeting with Pesco chief Brig Sakhi Marjan here on Wednesday, the minister apprised Wapda authorities of series of protests and agitations of people and MPAs in parts of the province and concern of the NWFP government.

He said that long duration loadshedding, besides adding to the miseries of people, also created law and order problems for the government, especially during night. He directed the Pesco chief to immediately control the situation and announce loadshedding or load-management schedule in essential cases so that people were given enough chances making alternative arrangements.

Brig Marjan assured the minister that the situation would soon be brought under control as Wapda staff was working day and night to control it.—APP
