RAWALPINDI: Residents of Dhoke Ratta along Tauheedi Road are facing acute shortage of water after the tubewell installed near Railways quarters developed faults third time in a week.

The residents of the area said a day before Ashura, tubewell No. 77 developed fault. On bringing into the notice of Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa), the tubewell motor was repaired but within two days, it again developed a fault. As a result, the area faced shortage of water, which is aggravating with each passing day.

Expressing concern over issue of water shortage, the residents have demanded Wasa to take immediate measures to provide water facility in the area. Mohammad Ibrar, a resident of Dhoke Ratta, said the area was experiencing water shortage after water supply was suspended thrice in a week. He said the tube well operator informed them that the motor had developed a fault.

“It is difficult for the people in narrow streets to get water through private tankers and we have no option but to bring water in buckets from nearby localities,” said Sajid Ali.

Akram Khan said the government should solve the problem of water shortage in the area, and replace the faulty motor with a new one.

He said we get water supply once for around 30 minutes, which was insufficient.

On the other hand, a Wasa official claimed that the motor had developed a fault due to fluctuation of electricity, adding that the agency was working on solving the problem.
