GILGIT: A youngster was killed and two others were injured when a car plunged into a deep ravine near Ganish Bridge in Hunza.
According to Rescue 1122, three friends, residents of Nagar Khas, were travelling in a car to their home town. About 1am on Saturday, the driver lost control of the car, which plunged into the Hunza River, about 150 feet deep from the road. One of them, Ali Abbas, 25, succumbed, while the other two friends sustained injuries in the accident.
The body of the deceased and the other two injured were retrieved from the ravine through a crane using ropes by Rescue 1122 officials, as the area was not accessible on foot.
The injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital in Aliabad by ambulance and later to PHQ Hospital, Gilgit. One of the injured, Barkat Shah was reportedly in stable condition while other friend was undergoing treatment.
According to locals at about 1am, a car accident occurred, in which three people were on board. The car was pulled out of the middle of the Hunza River.
They said without caring for his own life, Barkat Shah pulled his two companions out of the river and asked people to come and help them.
One friend succumbed to his injuries at the bank of the river while the other was rescued.
