BAHAWALPUR: Two more monkeypox suspects were admitted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) on Saturday.

Dawnlearnt from BVH administration sources that the new suspects were father and son belonging toBahawalpur district. Their blood samples were referred to a laboratory for analysis and their results were expected after a couple of days. Both of them were shifted to the isolation ward.

This will raise the number of mpox patients here to six within a period of less than two monthsif the duo test positive.

It may be recalled that earlier in the first week of the current month , the BVH had already treated four mpox patients, including a staff nurse of the hospital.

It may be mentioned that the first-ever patient admitted to BVH last month had travelled from Dubai where he was involved with cattle business. When he was admitted to the BVH, panic gripped the whole premises for days.

He was treated by a staff nurse in the isolation ward. After some days, though the patient recovered, the serving staff nurse fell prey to the virus after his departure from BVH. After testing positive, she was kept in the isolation war where is now about to complete her mandatory 21 days of isolation.

After the staff nurse, two brothers of the Dubai-returned patient also tested positive for the virus and they were also nearing full recovery.
