KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court remanded two lawyers belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) in judicial custody in a case pertaining to staging a rally during a by-election in Karachi in 2022.

Advocates Idris Alvi and Mohamemd Salman, who went missing soon after their release from Karachi Central Prison last week, have now been shown arrested in three old cases.

On Saturday, the investigating officer of the case produced them before the ATC for remand.

Appearing on their behalf, former Karachi Bar Association president Amir Nawaz Warraich, Haseeb Panhwar, Rehman Korai, Akram Qureshi and other lawyers submitted before the court that their clients had nothing to do with the present case.

They asked the court to discharge them under Section 63 of the criminal procedure code.

After hearing both sides, the court sent them to prison on judicial remand.

According to police, Mr Alvi and Mr Salman, along with nine others, were arrested on June 11 for staging a pro-Altaf rally on I.I. Chundrigar Road.
