SUKKUR: A man was killed and one of his female family members was seriously injured in an attack on them in Sujawal Malik village of Ghotki district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Jamaluddin Malik and the injured woman as Ms Suhagan Malik.

Locals told media personnel that the family had a land dispute with the attackers. However, the affected family alleged that some of their community members, including Ali Gohar, Sikandar and Younis, broke into their home and attacked Jamaluddin and Ms Suhagan with axes without any reason.

The victims were taken to the Ghotki Taluka Hospital where doctors referred them to a major hospital in Rahimyar Khan due to their precarious condition. However, Jamaluddin succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Ms Suhagan was stated to be in a critical condition.

Officials at the Adilpur police station of Khanpur Mahar said that a non-cognisable (NC) report was registered on the complain of the affected family.
