3 killed in Lanka

JAFFNA, July 12: Alleged LTTE attacks killed three persons and injured six in northern Jaffna on Wednesday, the military said.

A claymore mine targeting a police vehicle exploded in the Jaffna town, killing two policemen and wounding five.

In a separate attack, a Tamil belonging to a rival political party was killed by suspected Tamil Tiger rebels, sources said.

Sebastian Iruthayarajan, member of the Tamil political party, PLOTE, was shot dead in Jaffna.
