LAHORE: Three cricketers have been added to the national red-ball training camp while one has been included in the white-ball camp, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Wednesday.

Both the camps have been in progress at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore for the past couple of weeks to prepare the players for the upcoming international assignments.

The three players added to the red-ball camp include Abdullah Shafique, Kamran Ghulam and Hamza Nazar while Shahzaib Khan has been drafted into the white-ball camp.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that wicket-keeper/batter Mohammad Rizwan is still undergoing rehabilitation while batter Saud Shakeel has been sidelined due to fitness concerns during the camp. If Rizwan fails to clear a fitness test, expected to be conducted on July 6, Rohail Nazir, who has already joined the camp, could be named as his replacement.

Pakistan are scheduled to tour the West Indies for a two-Test series in July-August. The first Test will be played in Tarouba from July 25-29 while the second will be staged in Port-of-Spain for from Aug 2-6.

After the West Indies series, Pakistan will embark upon a tour to England to play a three-Test series there from Aug 19 to Sept 13.

In a bid to improve players’ fitness levels and arrest the decline in the national teams’ performance, the PCB has opted for extended training camps for both red-ball and white-ball squads.
