PM Shehbaz Sharif says that he and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani have “expressed satisfaction at the positive progress made during the first round of technical talks in Bürgenstock”, Switzerland.

In a post on X, PM Shehbaz said he had a “warm and most cordial telephone conversation” with the Qatari emir this afternoon.

The premier thanked Al Thani “for Qatar’s steadfast support for the peace efforts that culminated in the historic Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding”.

They agreed on the “importance of sustaining this momentum through continued dialogue and diplomacy”, the prime minister said.

PM Shehbaz also thanked the Qatari emir for expressing condolences on the tragic loss of life of a Pakistani national in the recent fire incident in Ras Laffan.
