Govt raises Rs1.2tr

KARACHI: The government on Monday raised over Rs1.2 trillion through the auction of market treasury bills against total bids of Rs3tr.

The government has been borrowing rapidly as the fiscal year approaches its end on June 30. The State Bank reported that the government raised a total of Rs1.060tr through direct auction, while it also raised Rs182bn through non-competitive bids, bringing the total to Rs1.242tr.
