KARACHI: K-Electric (KE) has announced that it will exempt “certain areas” in the metropolis from scheduled loadshedding during Ashura to facilitate religious activities and public convenience.

According to a statement issued here on Tuesday, 371 feeders across Karachi have been identified as high priority in areas where Ashura processions, majalis and associated religious gatherings will take place. These include 244 medium- and high-loss feeders, that would otherwise have scheduled loadshedding but will now remain exempt from the evening of Muharram 8 until the morning of Muhammad 11 (Wednesday evening to Saturday morning).

KE’s operational teams will remain on alert, with additional technical resources deployed to respond promptly to any network faults or emergency situations, it added.

Keeping in view two-day Ashura holiday, KE has also extended the payment due dates for electricity bills carrying due dates of June 25 and June 26 and the same can now be paid by June 29, without any late payment surcharge.
