GUJRANWALA, July 11: Muslim Conference candidate Chaudhry. Muhammad Ismael got elected to Azad Kashmir legislative assembly from 31, Jammu-II, constituency here on Tuesday.

According to unofficial results, Mr Ismail bagged 16,000 votes, while Chaudhry. Shaukat Ali of Peoples Party got 3,500 votes and former MLA Chaudhry Maqbool Ahmad of the Peoples Muslim League got 2,600 votes out of 117,000 registered votes.

Reports said the turnout remained less then 20 per cent, while the loosing candidates alleged rigging in Hafizabad district.

Meanwhile, about 30 armed persons reportedly snatched the ballot papers from the polling staff at Wazirabad. They cast 400 bogus votes and fled away.

Police have not registered a case against the accused so far.
