Three killed in ‘CCD encounters’

OKARA: Three suspects were shot dead while as many others were injured in alleged encounters in Toba, Vehari and Nankana Sahib districts on Monday.

In Tehsil Renala, three suspects were shot dead and one was injured during an encounter with the Crime Control Department (CCD) near Chak 12/1-L.

As per first information report (FIR), the CCD team was patrolling near Chak 28/2L when the police helpline received a call of robbery at Chak 10/1L. The CCD rushed toward the incident site but on the way saw 10/11 bikers carrying a trunk coming from Wali Chowk and signalled them to stop but the suspects opened fire on the CCD team.

The shoot-out left three suspects dead and one injured by the firing of their own accomplices. They could not be identified.

BAHAWALPUR: In Vehari district, the Crime Control Department (CCD) Mailsi in Vehari district arrested a suspect in an injured condition after an alleged encounter while his accomplice fled.

According to CCD, the suspect, later identified as Zahoor Ahmed Khand, opened fire on the police near Kahror Pucca Chowk. During exchange of firing, he was injured with the firing of his own accomplice. He was shifted to Kahror Pucca THQ Hospital. A stolen motorcycle and arms were recovered from him.

TOBA TEK SINGH: A suspected robber was injured in an alleged encounter with Nankana Sahib police.

Police spokesperson claimed that three suspects on a motorcycle robbed a citizen and police set up a picket near Bahadarwala to intercept them. The three suspects opened fire on the policemen which was also returned. After the exchange of firing, police found one of the suspects shot. He was arrested and shifted to Nankana Sahib DHQ hospital.

He was identified as Azam Jat of D-Type Colony, Faisalabad, who was allegedly involved in 26 robberies.
