SUKKUR, July 10: The federal government has approved the phase four of the Urban Drainage Scheme, Sukkur, to be carried out with a caused of Rs474.227 million. The mega project will meet the longstanding demand of the people of the city.
This was stated by the district nazim of Sukkur, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, while talking to councillors and others of the Union Council No. 5, Sukkur, says a press statement.
He said that another serious problem of residents of the city was to provide them clean drinking water, which would also hopefully be materialized in the shape of Urban Water Supply Filtration Scheme.
It has also been sanctioned at a cost of Rs573.926 million and for that purpose 50 per cent fund was also released to the district government, adding that as and when the remaining funds were released, development work would be started on the project on an emergency basis.
He assured the councillors that development works would be carried out in every union council on equal basis so that people could accrue optimum benefit of development without any discrimination.
WATER SHORTAGE: Fifty farmers of Ghotki feeder staged a demonstration in front of the Ghotki press club on Monday for water release in RD-177 of Ghotki Feeder.
Protestors, led by Rabban Khan Mulhan, reached the press club chanting slogans against irrigation officials.
Talking to newsmen, scarcity of water in the RD-177 originating from Ghotki Feeder had left crops drying while irrigation officials were selling water to influential landlords.
