COLOMBO, July 10: In a bid to lure the LTTE back to the negotiation process, a meeting of a multi-ethnic advisory board, tasked by President Mahinda Rajapakse to formulate political peace proposals, will be held on Tuesday.

The presidential secretariat said an all-party conference (APC) to be chaired by the president would also be held on Tuesday to achieve a consensus for a solution to the conflict involving the Tamil Tiger rebels.

The advisory committee, headed by a lawyer, H. L. de Silva, comprises 12 members selected from various fields of discipline, a release from the president’s office said.

The latest peace move by President Rajapakse comes as the LTTE sent out negative signals, indicating they will not give up their fight for a separate northeastern Tamil homeland.

The pro-LTTE website Tamil Net on Monday quoted legal adviser to the Liberation Tigers, Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran, as saying that a united Sri Lanka cannot be accepted as a ‘pre-negotiation parameter’.

Government sources have ruled out entertaining the LTTE’s homeland concept.
