RAWALPINDI: Azka Noor, the 14-year-old daughter of Dawn’s Gujar Khan correspondent Hamid Asghar, passed away after a prolonged illness here on Saturday morning.
She had been under treatment at the Intensive Care Uniit (ICU) of the Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi since May 27, following a critical abdominal surgery.
Later in the evening, she was laid to rest at a graveyard in her ancestral village Negail Pehalwan, located about some three kilometers from Gujar Khan. Her funeral prayers were attended by a good number of relatives, friends, colleagues and local residents. The deceased was also the sister of The Nation’s correspondent Faseeh Hassan.
The staff members of Dawn Islamabad and office-bearers of Dawn Employees Workers Union expressed their profound grief and sorrow over Mr Asghar and his family’s loss. They offered prayers for the departed soul and for strength and patience to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Quran Khawani and prayers for the departed soul will be held at Mr. Asghar’s residence in Negail Village at 11am on Monday (tomorrow).
