QUETTA: Power supply to Quetta and other areas of Balochistan was suspended on Friday after a high-voltage transmission pylon supplying electricity from Uch Power Plant to the national grid was blown up.
A spokesman for the Quetta Electricity Supply Company (Qesco) said efforts were underway to restore power supply to Quetta, Sibi and other areas.
According to police, the power pylon was destroyed by unknown miscreants in Nasirabad district who, the police said, planted explosives near Goth Sher Dil area in Nasirabad, which were detonated with a remote control resulting in the destruction of the pylon of the main electricity transmission line.
The destruction of the pylon suspended power supply to Quetta, Sibi and other parts of Balochistan.
“Repairing work on the destroyed transmission pylon would begin once security clearance is obtained for the affected area,” Qesco said.
