QUETTA, July 8: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Maulana Fazlur Rahman has said that the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) will launch a joint movement with the ARD and other political parties to end army’s role in country’s politics.

Talking to newsmen at a reception hosted in his honour by Prince Agha Faisal Dawood at the Royal Palace in Kalat, he said that they were not against the ‘charter of democracy’ but the charter should not be aimed at achieving power, but democracy for 160 million people of Pakistan. He claimed that the 17th amendment had blocked the imposition of martial law for ever.
