KARACHI: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Chaudhri Mohammad Zafrullah Khan, said … on Sunday [June 10] ... that the whole concept of a peaceful settlement of international problems is “on trial”, and unless success is speedily scored in respect of at least the more outstanding of these problems the resulting chaos might take on the complexion of an extended armed conflict.
The Foreign Minister … observed that the “danger spots” threatening world peace stretched from Morocco, through Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Palestine, Iran, Kashmir, Indo-China and Korea to New Guinea. Significantly, he pointed out, all these areas except Indo-China and Korea involve Muslim peoples and interests. “…[O]ne of the main problems to … address … is … a certain modicum of prosperity to these areas,” he said.
[Meanwhile according to a news report from Patna,] The food situation in Bihar in … the rural areas remains as grave as before, in spite of the remotest corners flooded with food grains, because of the lack of purchasing power of a large section of the landless people… . … Vast sections ... through continued malnutrition, have been so devitalised that they are not in a position to work... .
