KARACHI: Three suspected robbers were shot dead in two alleged encounters in the metropolis on Wednesday.

In New Karachi, suspected robbers resorted to firing when they saw a police party at Nala Stop, Sector-11-D. The police chased them and an exchange of gunfire took place. As a result, two suspects were gunned down. Two pistols, two cell phones and one motorcycle were recovered from their custody. The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

In another incident, an encounter took place near Rehmania Mor in North Karachi in the limits of Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police. Three suspects were looting the citizens when Shaheen Force personnel reached the spot after receiving information.

On seeing the police, the suspects resorted to firing. In an ensuing exchange of fire, one suspect was gunned down while others were arrested in wounded condition. Arms, mobile phones and one motorcycle were recovered from their custody. The body and wounded were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar in a statement termed the killed suspects as ‘dangerous criminals’ who were involved in snatching cell phones and looting cash from citizens.

He also appreciated the performance of West DIG Irfan Ali Baloch and Central SSP Dr Mohammed Imran Khan for ‘successful actions’ against the criminal elements, saying the police’s effective strategy was appreciable.
