Elderly man killed in Dera crossfire

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: An elderly man was shot dead when he was trying to stop an armed clash between two rival groups in Kirri Khaisore area, police said on Tuesday.

According to the FIR registered at Kirri Khaisore police station, complainant Halima Bibi alleged that a longstanding dispute involving women between her uncle Mohammad Ali and another man Syed Khan had been continuing for some time.

She stated that the two sides involved in an altercation near their residence, during which firing erupted. She alleged that her father, Mohammad Amir Khan, 65, moved forward in an attempt to stop the clash and mediate between the rival groups. However, he was hit by a bullet during gunfire and succumbed to his injuries.

FIR was lodged against Syed Khan, Ramazan, Ikram, Saifur Rehman and Ataur Rehman.
