RAHIM YAR KHAN, July 8: A seven-year-old girl died after falling in an open manhole in Pattwaraan locality on Friday.

The daughter of Abdul Wajid was reportedly brought to Zayed Hospital where she died a couple of hours later.

Residents of the area later held a protest demonstration against the negligence of TMA authorities who did not cover manholes. They also demanded action against the official responsible for the death of the girl.

It is stated that the provincial highways department started construction of road under the TMA and a relative of a minister got the contract. The contractor was allegedly using substandard material and left many manholes open.
