CHARSADDA: The teachers have alleged they have been barrad from serving in double-shift schools to conduct the ongoing summer camp programme here despite directives issued by the education department.

According to parents, the decision has disrupted academic activities in double-shift schools across the district, resulting in the suspension of classes and closure of admissions for new students during summer season. They claimed that the bar would negatively impact girl students education.

The controversy stems from a notification issued by the provincial education department, under which teachers were directed to continue educational activities through summer camps aimed at supporting students’ learning and maintaining academic engagement during the vacations. However, stakeholders claimed that officials of the District Education Office (Female), Charsadda, have not implemented the directive with respect to double-shift schools.

Parents said that teachers working in these institutions were reportedly prevented from performing summer camp duties, effectively halting educational activities for students enrolled in afternoon shifts. They warned that the situation could adversely affect both ongoing learning and enrolment campaigns being conducted in the district.

Parents concerned over disruption of academic activities

“The suspension of academic activities in double-shift schools will have serious consequences for female students, particularly those belonging to low-income families who depend on government schools for their education,” the parents said.

Teachers associated with the affected schools also expressed concern over the development, arguing that summer camps were designed to provide students with constructive educational engagement and help maintain continuity in learning.

Parents have appealed to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and the provincial education secretary to take immediate notice of the issue and ensure compliance with official directives.

However, officials of the district education department were not immediately available for comment.

NADRA OFFICIALS HELD FOR ISSUING CNICs TO FOREIGNERS: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) anti-corruption circle Peshawar the other day conducted a raid at the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) centre in Charsadda and arrested four officials allegedly involved in the illegal issuance of computerised national identity cards (CNICs) to foreign nationals including Afghan citizens.

According to FIA officials, the operation was carried out on the directives of deputy director FIA anti-corruption circle Peshawar Rana Shahid Habib. The raid was supervised by assistant director Abdul Qayyum, who led a team of FIA personnel to the Nadra facility.

During the operation, FIA officials arrested four NADRA employees identified as assistant director Waqar Ahmad, Ataullah Jan, Ahmad Raza and Sajjad Ali.

The FIA said that documentary evidence and other important records were recovered from the possession of the arrested officials during the raid.

Officials confirmed that a formal case had been registered against the accused and that investigations were underway. The agency further disclosed that Waqar Ahmad Khan was already under investigation in multiple cases and inquiries related to alleged irregularities.
