ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued a traffic advisory for motorists in connection with a major event at the Pakistan Sports Complex, informing citizens about temporary traffic diversions and alternate routes.

An ITP official told APP on Saturday that Srinagar Highway from Serena Chowk to Chand Tara Chowk would remain partially closed for traffic from 3a.m. to 12noon due to security and traffic arrangements for the event.

The official said traffic coming from Bhara Kahu and Kashmir Chowk towards Srinagar Highway would be diverted through the Margalla Motel U-turn and directed towards Suhrawardy Road.

Citizens travelling from Islamabad towards Bhara Kahu were advised to use Express Highway, Murree Road, Club Road and Kashmir Chowk as alternate routes.

According to the advisory, traffic heading towards Aabpara and the Red Zone from Srinagar Highway would be diverted through Seventh Avenue and Jinnah Avenue.

The official said commuters travelling to the Red Zone from Express Highway could use Murree Road and Serena Chowk to reach their destination.

Candidates participating in the event were advised to park their vehicles and motorcycles at the Rose and Jasmine Garden parking area.

The official urged citizens to follow Islamabad Traffic Police’s WhatsApp channel and Islamabad Police social media platforms for updates, traffic information and route guidance.
