PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) in collaboration with China Window will organise the Dragon Boat Festival to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China friendship.

The decision was made during a meeting, chaired by KPCTA Director Culture and Tourism Halima Iqbal here on Friday.

China Window was represented by its administrator, Amjad Aziz Malik.

The participants were informed that the Dragon Boat Festival is one of the most popular traditional events in the People’s Republic of China.

For the first time, it will be organised near Peshawar at Sardaryab in Charsadda district on the Kabul River. The participants will compete in boat races powered by paddles, showcasing teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship.

The primary objective of organising the festival is to enable the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to share in the celebrations and happiness of their Chinese brothers and sisters, further strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two nations.

According to China Window administrator Amjad Aziz Malik, a series of meetings has already been held with the relevant institutions to ensure the safety and security of all participants.

He stated that arrangements for the festival are being finalised and every effort is being made to ensure a successful and memorable event.
