DUBLIN: The final fixture of the women’s T20I tri-series between Pakistan and Ireland at Castle Avenue on Thursday was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain, with the toss unable to take place before officials called off the proceedings.

West Indies clinched the tri-series title with two wins and 10 points from their four matches. Pakistan, who took part in four scheduled fixtures, finished the tournament with one defeat each to Ireland and West Indies, while their other two games were abandoned due to rain.

Captain Fatima Sana remained unbeaten on a run-a-ball 21 with a solitary four, while Rameen Shamim (17 off 16 balls) and Ayesha Zafar (17 off 15) contributed in the middle order. Aliya and Rameen also rebuilt the innings with a 30-ball 37-run stand for the fifth wicket. On Wednesday, the penultimate tri-series match between Pakistan and West Indies at the same venue was called off due to persistent rain.

After the scheduled start was delayed due to a wet outfield, West Indies opted to field as no overs were reduced then.

Pakistan reached 111-7 in 16.5 overs when the match was called off, with Aliya Riaz top-scoring with a 23-ball 24 hitting three fours.

Fatima and Tuba Hassan had added 22 off 17 balls with 3.1 overs left in the innings when the rain arrived.

For West Indies, Chinelle Henry and Ashmini Munisar picked up two wickets each, while Zaida James, Afy Fletcher and Qiana Joseph took one apiece.
