KARACHI: A judicial magistrate on Thursday issued a notice to the prosecution on a plea filed by two alleged accomplices of Anmol Pinky -- accused of being a drug baroness-- on their plea for their discharge from a narcotics case.

The two suspects — Zeeshan-ur-Rehman and Sohail-ur-Rehman, who are brothers — filed an application under Section 63 (discharge of person apprehended) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) through their counsel before Judicial Magistrate (South) Sitara Kainat.

After a preliminary hearing, the court issued notices to state prosecutor Abdul Rehman Thaheem, and fixed June 8 for the hearing.

In their application, the duo claimed that they had been falsely implicated in the case with “mala fide intentions and ulterior motives” by police.

They contended that their names were neither mentioned in the FIR nor was there any indication that they had provided any financial support to Pinky.

The suspects further alleged that they were picked up on May 13, but their arrest was officially shown on May 16.

They submitted that the concerned magistrate had remanded them to prison on judicial custody after observing that they had already been thoroughly investigated and that there was nothing substantial or incriminating on record against them.
