LAHORE: As many as 85 students showcased their creative, research-based and innovative thesis projects at the Grand Hall of the College of Art and Design (CAD) of the Punjab University on Thursday.

Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali Shah inaugurated the Undergraduate Thesis Exhibition 2026, organised by the College of Art and Design’s Department of Graphic Design. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Faculty of Arts and Humanities Dean Prof Dr Mehboob Hussain, CAD Principal Prof Dr Samina Nasim, Department of Graphic Design Chairman Prof Dr Ahmad Bilal, faculty members, renowned designers from the industry and a large number of students.

Addressing the participants, PU VC Prof Shah said that students had presented creative projects with strong commercial potential. He noted that companies were purchasing projects developed by students of the College of Art and Design. He further stated that many students secured employment even before completing their studies.

He highlighted that the college’s graduates had earned recognition at both national and international levels. He appreciated the students for presenting projects aimed at promoting environmental awareness.

Dr Bilal stated that the students’ creative projects reflected various social issues and contemporary societal perspectives.

On the occasion, a modern digital thesis catalogue was also launched, which is available on the College of Art and Design’s website. The exhibition will remain open to the public until June 12.

Meanwhile, an award distribution ceremony was organised by the PU Sports Directorate for students who demonstrated outstanding performance in world rowing, 35th National Games and All Pakistan Inter-University Competitions.

PU VC Prof Shah, while addressing the event, said individuals associated with sports had been rendering a valuable national service, as they not only promoted Pakistan’s soft image through sports but also engaged young people in healthy activities, keeping them away from drugs and other negative influences.
