KARACHI: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday paid a surprise visit to a mega centre of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) in the Safoora Goth area on University Road and reviewed public service facilities.

During the visit, he inspected various sections of the facility and assessed the quality of services being provided to the public.

He met with citizens, who had come to obtain computerised national identity cards (CNICs) and other essential documentation, seeking first-hand feedback regarding their experience at the centre.

Naqvi inquired about the efficiency of the document-processing system and asked visitors whether they were facing any difficulties during the application and issuance procedures.

Citizens present at the centre expressed satisfaction with the facilities and services being provided. Several visitors stated that they did not have to endure long waiting times for the processing of CNICs and other documents, adding that their turns arrived on schedule and that the staff members were cooperative and helpful throughout the process.

The minister visited different service counters and held discussions with a number of elderly citizens.

He listened to their concerns and sought information regarding any issues they might be facing while obtaining services.

Emphasising the importance of facilitating vulnerable segments of society, Naqvi directed the relevant authorities to ensure that the cases of senior citizens and women are handled on a priority basis to minimise inconvenience and improve service delivery.

At the conclusion of the visit, the interior minister commended the performance of the Nadra management and staff, appreciating their efforts to provide quality services to the public.

He stressed the government’s commitment to improving citizen facilitation and maintaining high standards of service delivery at Nadra centres across the country.
