BAHAWALPUR: An employee of the Suthra Punjab Authority was killed by an unidentified truck driver near Musafir Khanaon the Bahawalpur-Ahmedpur East Highway on Monday.
According to Rescue 1122 and Musafir Khana police, Muhammad Waseem, a truck driver of the authority, was standing by the roadside while his colleagues were sweeping the road. Meanwhile, a truck knocked him down, resulting in serious head injuries.
He was shifted to hte Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) where he succumbed to his injuries. The unidentified truck driver fled from the scene.
Musafirkhan police registered a case against the unidentified truck driver and shifted the deceased’s body to the THQ Ahmedpur East before handing it over to his family.
In another accident in Chak 36/KB in the limits of Sahooka Police Station, Burewala, a tractor driver Mukhtar Panwar allegedly crushed Zunera (1.5 years) to death when she was standing along with her father Waheedul Hassan. Police on the complaint of Waheed registered a case and arrested the tractor driver .
RAPE: Gaggo Mandi police in Vehari district arrested the rapist of a minor boy.
According to police, a 5th class student (9) was playing in the street of his house at Chak 187/EB on Sunday when the suspect took him to nearby fields on some pretext and raped him there.
The victim told his father about the incident, telling him that the suspect had earlier raped him frequently and threatened him of dire consequences if he disclosed it. The father went to the police station where police registered a case and referred the victim to hospital for medical examination. On receiving the initial medical report, police arrested the suspect.
In Lodhran, Gailiwal Police Station arrested a suspect who had raped a married woman while his accomplice was yet to be arrested.
The complainant had alleged that the suspect and his accomplice had abducted his married sister on May 25. They took her to the main suspect’s residence where her raped her while his accomplice stood guard outside his house. Police arrested the main suspect.
CONVICTED: Vehari Additional District and Sessions Judge Tariq Mahmood Shad handed down death sentence along with a fine of Rs500,000 on a killer of his wife’s friend in the limits of Mailsi Police Station in 2025.
According to the prosecution, Tahir Abbas, on the suspicion of relations of his wife with Haseeb, attacked both of them with an axe. Haseeb later succumbed to his wounds while his wife suffered injuries. Mailsi police had registered an FIR against Tahir and arrested him.
