Four people killed in road accident

ISLAMABAD: As many as four people were killed and another four injured in a tragic road accident in the limits of Bhara Kahu police station on Saturday night.

According to details, two luxury vehicles travelling from Murree towards Islamabad were allegedly involved in a race when they collided and then struck six motorcycles and at least two other vehicles near Athal Chowk.

According to police sources, due to the accident, four people died and another four sustained injuries. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi ordered an inquiry into the incident.

A case has been registered with Bhara Kahu police station on the complaint of a local resident from Phulgran.

According to the complainant, the drivers of both vehicles were engaged in reckless racing and excessive speeding, which led to the fatal accident.

According to the first information report, which has been registered after filing of application by family members of two deceased youngsters, the incident took place as both luxury vehicles went out of control.

According to police sources no arrests have been made as drivers of both vehicles managed to escape leaving their vehicles on the spot.

“We have also decided to check the cameras of Safe City on Murree Road to find out where both vehicles were coming from and if passengers of both vehicles were familiar with each other,” sources said.
