KARACHI: The decomposed body of a woman, who lived alone in her Gulistan-i-Jauhar residence, was found on Monday after neighbours complained of a foul smell, police said.

Sharea Faisal police SHO Imtiaz Husain Shah said the corpse was found inside a house in Block-13. It was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Quoting doctors, the officer said the woman had died around eight months ago and all that was left of the body was a skeleton. He said the neighbours told the police that the deceased had been living alone while other family members lived abroad and it appeared that they had not contacted her for months.

She was reported to be in her mid-40s. Her identity could not be ascertained immediately.
