Yet another blast in Dera

Published July 6, 2006

DERA GHAZI KHAN, July 5: A bomb blast in Gaddai market on the Dera-Quetta Road on Wednesday suspended the inter-provincial traffic. It was the second blast in the district within a fortnight which, however, caused no casualty.

According to the bomb disposal squad, it was a locally-made half a kilogramme bomb planted near the road in the market. Window-panes of six shops were broken. The traffic remained suspended on the highway for half-an-hour.

It was the second blast which took place in the city in the last two weeks. Earlier on June 24, a blast in the city left four people injured.

SDPO (city) Gauhar Mushtaq Bhutta told Dawn that it was a sabotage activity.

It is pertinent to mention that 17 blasts have taken place on railway networks, roads, gas and oil pipelines since January 2005 in the district. The police are clueless about the incidents. — Correspondent
