VEHARI, July.5: DPO suspended an ASI and moharrir of Fateh Shah police for neglecting their duty, and ordered registration of case against the five accused who allegedly forced their entry into the house of a woman at Chak 47/kb of Burewala tehsil.

Reports said a woman, Razia Bibi, filed an application with the DPO office stating that her estranged husband Shamshad, along with his four accomplices, forcibly entered her house and tried to kidnap her.

According to the woman, on June 26 when she approached Fateh Shah police station to report the incident, the police personnel on duty, instead of registering the case against the accused, raped her.

DPO Tasaddaq Hayat appointed Burewala ASP Dr Masroor Alam to conduct a probe into the matter, who found the rape allegations against the police personnel `baseless’.

However, the two accused policemen were suspended for neglecting their duty.

Police also registered a case against Razia’s husband and his accomplices.

According to police, none of the suspects was the husband of the victim.

Sources privy to the matter say that the police have struck a ‘deal’ with the complainant.
