German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul tells reporters that Germany is preparing to participate in securing the Strait of Hormuz under a UK-led mission, though he added that he did not see it as a NATO mission, Al Jazeera reports.

Wadephul said it had always been clear that the US would be shifting troops, referring to a US announcement earlier this month that it would be withdrawing about 5,000 soldiers from the country over the next 6-12 months.
