Crackdown on unregulated sale of sacrificial animals in Sargodha

SARGODHA: During a crackdown on those selling sacrificial animals at places other than the ones notified officially in Sargodha city, several animals were taken into custody and shifted to the designated sale points, while Sargodha police have recovered sacrificial animals worth Rs1.7m from two thieves.

According to official sources, taking notice of illegal sale of sacrificial animals at various places in the city, Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry directed the Sargodha Municipal Corporation (SMC) to crack down on such activities.

Accordingly, under the supervision of SMC Chief Officer Zoya Baloch, action was taken against those selling sacrificial animals at non-designated places, and several animals were taken into custody in different areas of the city and shifted to a temporary sale point established in New Satellite Town, Tahli Chowk.

The CO says that for the convenience of buyers and traders ahead of Eidul Azha, two temporary sale points have been established in Sargodha city, at Bhalwal Road and Tahli Chowk, where sacrificial animals are being sold without any fee.

The CO says no one is allowed to sell sacrificial animals along roads, on streets or other unauthorised places, adding that action is being taken against violators.

The official urged traders to bring animals for sale at the designated sale points, where they are being provided various facilities without any fee.

Meanwhile, Sargodha police claimed to have arrested two thieves, recovering stolen sacrificial animals worth more than Rs1.7 million from them.

According to official sources, the police arrested the suspects, Ali Hassan and Qamar Javed, allegedly involved in more than a dozen incidents of animal theft, and recovered the stolen animals from their possession.

RELIEF CHEQUES: Grants and relief cheques worth Rs39.8 million have been approved under the Welfare Fund for widows and families of government employees in Sargodha district.

According to officials, the grants and cheques were approved in a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry.

The meeting was informed that a total of 815 deserving families will benefit from this financial assistance. The approved amounts will be transferred to the bank accounts of the deserving families before Eid.

On this occasion, the DC said the Punjab government is taking practical steps for the welfare of employees and their families through timely provision of financial assistance to them ahead of Eid.

**PIGEON FLYING BANNED:**To maintain law and order and ensure air safety in Sargodha, Section 144 has been imposed and a ban has been slapped on pigeon flying, rooftop pigeon cages, and use of laser lights and drones in and around Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Base, Mushaf.

According to the order issued by the deputy commissioner, under Section 144, these measures have been taken to ensure air safety and prevent any possible accident or damage to the PAF aircraft.

The order states that the use of birds, kites, laser lights and drones may pose a threat to the flight of PAF aircraft, while bamboo and pigeon cages on the roofs may prove harmful to aviation activities.

The ban has been enforced immediately and will remain effective for 30 days.
