They said that first, the agents including Afghan nationals, would reach out Pakistani nationals in need of financial assistance to obtain their original documents and later enter foreign nationals into the family trees of the Pakistani nationals.

“They would pay huge money to Pakistani nationals, make birth certificates of foreign nationals and would enter the foreign nationals into the Pakistani nationals’ family tree making it easy for foreign nationals to obtain Pakistani documents,” SP Faqeerabad division Resham Jihangir told Dawn.

She stated that three among the seven arrested persons were Afghan national, adding that a Nadra official was also allegedly involved. She stated that the department had been planning to refer the case to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
