Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) has taken a swipe at the US’ repeated claims that there are no air defences in Iran by highlighting that 42 American aircraft have been damaged or destroyed during military operations in the country.

According to the report from the Congressional Research Service (CRS), which IRIB cited, the number includes four F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets, one F-35A Lightning II stealth fighter, seven KC-135 Stratotanker air-to-air refuelling tankers and an E-3 Sentry airborne early-warning and control aircraft.
