A sanctioned liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker successfully loaded at Iran’s Kharg Island on May 16, slipping through the US Navy blockade undetected, Al Jazeera reports tanker tracking firm TankerTrackers.com.
The vessel had last appeared on AIS — the automatic identification system used to track ships — nearly two weeks ago off the coast of India before going dark. Satellite imagery from ESA Copernicus Sentinel-2 confirmed the loading at Kharg Island.
Kharg Island handles the vast majority of Iran’s crude and gas exports and has been a focal point of the US naval blockade.
