KARACHI, July 4: The additional district and sessions judge, South, Sher Bano Karim, sentenced on Tuesday a reckless driver to suffer rigorous imprisonment for five years. Mohammed Salim, driver of minibus Z-4, was found guilty of having killed a motorcyclist, Mohammed Asif, and injured pillion rider, Bashir, on July 21, 2001, near Aram Bagh Masjid on the Shahrah-i-Liaqaut.

The judge also ordered the convict to pay diyat (compensation) equivalent to the value of 30.63 kgs silver, which, if recovered, would be given away to the family of the deceased and the injured.

REMANDED: The judicial magistrate, East, Shamsuddin Junejo, remanded a fake faith-healer to police for interrogation and investigation.

Nawab Ali alias Unday Wala Baba was arrested on Monday by the Zaman Town police for allegedly assaulting a woman, who had visited him for getting a talisman.

He was booked on the complaint of the woman, who had been visiting the fake faith healer in her bid to marry a man of her choice.

But she said the faith healer attempted to molest her. She raised an alarm and the police reached the spot.

The police said they also recovered nude pictures of women, four bottles of liquor and articles used in trickery.
