KASUR, July 2: Daily loadshedding during the last 10 days forced locals to take to streets on Sunday. A large number of people marched from the railway station to the press club. Holding placards, they raised slogans against Wapda.

Eight-hour daily suspensiom had severely affected the local cottage industry and rendered a good number of daily-wagers jobless.

Lesco XEN Abdul Rehman said power suspension was from the regional control center in Islamabad.

Meanwhile, heat and gastro reportedly claimed more lives in Kasur and Pattoki on Sunday.

Scores of people were rushed to various hospitals for medical aid. Reports said five people, including two children, died of heat and gestro problems. There was no official confirmation.

The victims were identified as Ahmed Raza, Saif Ali, Amina Begum, Nadia (3) and Arslan (5).
