Four terrorists killed in Gwadar operation

GWADAR/QUETTA: Four terrorists were killed in a security operation in Pasni of Gwadar district, while two security personnel were martyred in the ensuing gun battle, officials said on Saturday.

Official sources said security forces launched a search operation on intelligence reports about the presence of armed terrorists in the coastal tehsil of Pasni in Gwadar district.

The forces cordoned off the militants’ hideout and initiated an operation, during which the armed suspects opened fire using automatic weapons, they said. Security forces returned fire, and a heavy exchange of gunfire continued for about two hours, resulting in the killing of four terrorists, they added.

“Forces targeted the hideout of the militants and killed four armed men,” security officials said, adding that two security personnel embraced martyrdom during the clash. A clearance operation in the area was continuing till filing of this report.

Landmine blast

Meanwhile, two security men were seriously injured in a landmine explosion in the Duki area of Balochistan.

Officials said unknown individuals had planted a landmine on a road in the Taleo area of Duki. It exploded when a motorcycle hit it, injuring two security personnel. “Both security personnel, who were part of a private security company, sustained serious injuries,” a police official said.
