Yemen’s coastguard reports unidentified armed men hijacked the M/T Eureka oil tanker off the coast of Shabwa province, Al Jazeera reports.
It adds that assailants boarded the vessel and seized control of it, before steering it towards the Gulf of Aden in the direction of Somali waters.
Earlier, the UK Maritime Trade Operations Centre said a “bulk carrier” reported a suspicious approach by a “green-hulled skiff” accompanied by a fishing vessel, 155 kilometres southwest of the port of Mukalla.
