KARACHI, July 1: Three-year-old bay colt, The Concord, is tipped to oblige punters should he sprint to victory in the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

He was relegated to second place behind filly, Abhi Abhi, in the last outing after a facile win on June 11.

He is drawn in the five furlong second race of the day alongside 11 contenders and start as our days’ best.

Fillies four-year-old bay, Arrival Queen and three-year-old chestnut, Arabian Heart, should battle it out for places.

However, animal to be watched is bay mare, Velvet Green, who despite successive failures to finish even on the board can bring an element of surprise if tried by the connections.

A card of seven races, all going over a distance of five furlongs, has been chalked out for the day.

The first race begins at 2.30pm.

Three-year-old chestnut filly, Swift Arrival, is fancied to make amends by picking up the opener. She was beaten by Silent Love by a wide margin of eight lengths last Sunday.

She should be chased by Go Piyaray and In Her Shoes for places.

Nine-year-old Desperado should make amends by grabbing the third race which has a field of nine runners.

Filly, Sea Gul and bay horse, Dunhill Desire, have the potential to challenge Desperado.

Three-year-old bay filly, Annaba, is fancied to pick up spoils in the fourth race. However, in her quest to victory she should have to overcome Daruwala and Queen Of Mirwa.

The last three races should be dominated by horses of the same connections. Syed Ismail Shah’s four-year-old bay filly, Closing Argument, should gallop to victory in the fifth while chestnut filly, Butter Fly and bay mare, Aie Bahar, from the stables of Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara, should land the next two races.

Following is the field and our selection.
