LAHORE: University of Engineering and Technology (UET) on Wednesday organised the 12th annual career fair to provide job opportunities to students in the future.

Provincial Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat inaugurated the fair, while UET Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Munir provided him with a briefing on the event.

More than 200 national and international companies, top brands, manufacturing firms, technology companies, startups and organisations from various industrial sectors participated in the career fair held at Junaid Jamshed Stadium.

Thousands of students from UET Lahore and its sub-campuses attended the event, submitted their CVs, and explored numerous on-the-spot interview, internship, and employment opportunities.

Mr Hayat said that the UET Career Fair is a practical example of strong industry-academia linkages and a unique event among both public and private universities. He said that the entire funding for this career fair came from the private sector, which is a positive example of collaboration.

He appreciated the talented UET students, who successfully managed the entire event themselves, calling it truly commendable.

Mr Hayat said that due to the fair, thousands of students would gain access to job opportunities in a single day, as recruitment was continuing across all disciplines.

He highlighted that top national brands were present at the event, along with the representatives of major companies, from manufacturing, technology and startup sectors.

Addressing the students, he encouraged them to dream big and move forward with hard work and determination.

He advised the students to master modern technological trends, adding that the government is also introducing merit-based scholarships and laptop schemes.

Prof Munir stated that the UET would continue to provide such excellent opportunities for students in the future as well so that young graduates could succeed not only academically, but also professionally.

Training session: The Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE), in collaboration with GIZ Pakistan, on Wednesday organised a training of trainers session on level-5 qualification to strengthen the capacity of assessors and ensure the implementation of competency-based assessment practices across institutions.

PBTE Chairman Dr Faisal Mahmood, Secretary Chaudhry Muhammad Hafeez, Controller of Examinations Malik Irfan Qasim, Deputy Secretary Hafeezur Rehman and System Analyst Fatima Iqbal attended the session.
