Funds for five parking plazas in Clock Tower bazaars released

TOBA TEK SINGH: Commissioner Mussarat Jabeen says funds for the construction of five parking plazas around the eight bazaars of Clock Tower have been released and the construction work will start soon.

Addressing traders on Wednesday, she said the construction of parking plazas will solve the parking problem to a great extent.

She stated that the beautification of Katchery Bazaar has been completed with the cooperation of trader organisations. In the next phase, the beautification of Jhang Bazaar and Aminpur Bazaar will be started.

She said the concerns of traders related to Pera force will be addressed and instructions have also been given regarding early completion of Wasa projects on Millat Road, Haryanwala Chowk, beautification of Koh-i-Noor City, repair and renovation of Sheikhupura Road. She said the repair and renovation of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Hospital on Haseeb Shaheed Road will also be started immediately. The commissioner said the ongoing construction and renovation of roads are being completed on a priority basis, in this regard, contractors have also been mobilised.

ACCIDENT: Two motorcycle riders were hit by a speeding truck at Gojra on Wednesday as a result one died and the other sustained serious injuries.

Police said a man, Haroon Danial, and his cousin Badal Masih were on Samundri Road Bypass, and both of them were seriously injured after the accident. They were shifted to Gojra THQ hospital, where Badal Masih succumbed to his injuries. Also at Adda on Majhi Sultan Road in Jhang, a young woman, Nadia, died by suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan. Police have taken her body into custody and shifted it to Jhang DHQ hospital for autopsy.

In Faisalabad, a trailer driver was electrocuted on Wednesday. Rescue 122 said deceased Muhammad Younis was reversing his vehicle which collided with a pole as a result an electric transformer fell on his trailer with live wires and he received heavy electric shock due to which he died instantly.

SUSPENDED: Toba District Police Officer Akhlaqullah Tarar took notice of torture of two citizens and suspended ASI Javed Iqbal posted at Gojra City on Wednesday while an inquiry into the charge has also been ordered.

According to the details, the ASI called Muhammad Shahbaz of Mohalla Rahimabad to inquire into a complaint and he came to the police station along with his friend Taufiqur Rehman where the complainant was also present. In their presence, the police severely tortured Muhammad Shahbaz and also slapped Taufiq.

After the incident went viral on social media, the DPO immediately suspended the ASI. The inquiry into the incident will be conducted by SP Investigation Fazal Abbas.

MURDER: A man was murdered and his wife was critically injured in an attack by their opponents over farmland ownership dispute at Mouza Balian in Shah Jewana tehsil of Jhang on Wednesday.

Police said both were seriously wounded and were shifted to THQ hospital where Muhammad Yousaf succumbed to his injuries while his wife Pathani Bibi was referred to DHQ hospital due to her serious condition.
